Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
How do I learn the answer?
First, we must find out what is the question?
Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
- Where can I learn the answer? “Am I qualified”
- First look to yourself, if you are saved, you are qualified.
- As Christians it is very important to stay in church and under the direction of the Pastor and read your Bible so that you can get better at answering the question.
- How am I to give the answer?
Ecclesiastes 10:12 The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.
Remember the first part of our verse:
Let your speech be alway with grace.
Never argue doctrine. When answering the question, stay on track. We are here to point the lost to Christ, not haggle about how much Bible we know.
What can I do to get ready to answer the question?
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
- Stay in your Bibles.
- Pay attention in church
What is this Hope.
Our hope is the second coming of Christ. It Is the reason we are to be prepared to have and anster to the question.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
What is the answer to the question?
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
