Ever get frustrated when trying to share the gospel with someone. Sometimes no matter how simple we make it, they just don’t seem to get it. We are going to look at some of the Biblical reasons why, so maybe instead of getting frustrated when this happens, we can learn to better deal with the lost.

1. Salvation is of God, not of man.

The lost world doesn’t quite know what to do with someone who would get up and declare the scriptures…  To them it is foolishness.

1 Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:27  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

2. The Lost are Not Spiritually Discerned ( They CAN’T get it! )

1 Corinthians 2:14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are        foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

• It is the Holy Spirit through the Word of God that the world can understand salvation.
• NEVER Argue Scripture! (Where is their final authority!)
• The More time you spend arguing the less time you have to talk to someone else about Jesus. (They have Moses and the Prophets!)

Romans 10:17   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1 John 5:13   These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

3.   Religion has twisted the simple truth of the Gospel.

Religion tries to breach the gap between God & Man. 

If you take a man who is truly tired of the consequences of his sin, he’s not looking for something close.  He’s looking for something as far from where he is as possible.

If I’m filthy dirty I don’t want to wash up with a rag, I want a shower with soap!

Remember that God’s law is written in the hearts of man (everyone believes in God at a funeral) There is that inside him that says that God is pure and Holy.  When a man gets saved that is what he will go looking for.

4.  God has not been taught in the home

2 Tim. 3:15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 6:2  That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

5.   So how do we deal with a lost person.

Realize that it is not US that gets them saved.

Romans 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Become the window by which one can view the cross, not the door that blocks the view.

Know that it is more than developing a personal relationship with Jesus, it’s about getting saved! 

Have a right Motivation (why are you telling someone about Jesus?) Who gets the credit?

1 Corinthians 3:5-10  Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

Bible, Bible, Bible!  KEEP THE FOCUS ON JESUS!

It is important that we share what God has done for us, to have a clean testimony, but our desire needs to be that God get the Glory.

We cannot get saved for them.  Our job is to go into the darkness where the lost are, take them by the hand and walk them to the light switch.  It’s up to them to turn on the switch.
