John 3:36 He that hath the Son

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

In order for us to understand this statement we must first learn a little more about who said it.

John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

In John 3 we start off with Jesus speaking:

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Then, John’s desciples, hearing Jesus speak; inquired of John:

John 3:25 Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Salvation through Jesus Christ is what John the Baptist was there to show… but showing Christ THROUGH his actions.

Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Jesus said that is we lift HIM up others will come to Him. John is our example:

Jesus Said… John 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

John 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

When God’s saved people lift up Jesus… it will allow others to see what He has done for us (Testimony)

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

A failing that the modern church has is that we don’t need to change, that it’s Christ’s job to see people saved… and while it’s true that we can only be saved by trusting in Jesus Christ… it is also true that we are to be the ones who introduce them to Him.

We are to lift up Christ.

We are to be the light of the world.

We should desire to show the world what God has done for us, lifting Him up.

If we look like the world, act like the world, talk like the world… we have nothing to show for Christ changing us in our lives!

Ever been to Walmart and seen kids misbehave?

My Dad one time ask why my kids we so well behaved… THERE IS a difference to show the world!
