John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

In order for us to understand this statement we must first learn a little more about who said it.

John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

In John 3 we start off with Jesus speaking:

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Then, John’s desciples, hearing Jesus speak; inquired of John:

John 3:25 Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

————All the way down to our memory verse

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Salvation through Jesus Christ is what John the Baptist was there to show… but showing Christ THROUGH his actions.

Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Jesus said that is we lift HIM up others will come to Him. John is our example:

Jesus Said… John 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

John 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

When God’s saved people lift up Jesus… it will allow others to see what He has done for us (Testimony)

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

A failing that the modern church has is that we don’t need to change, that it’s Christ’s job to see people saved… and while it’s true that we can only be saved by trusting in Jesus Christ… it is also true that we are to be the ones who introduce them to Him.

We are to lift up Christ.

We are to be the light of the world.

We should desire to show the world what God has done for us, lifting Him up.

If we look like the world, act like the world, talk like the world… we have nothing to show for Christ changing us in our lives!

Ever been to Walmart and seen kids misbehave?

  • If the game is taking to long give the children a challenge they must do without making noise.

Suitable for kids of all ages!

Supplies Needed

  • 2 Balls of yarn
  • Stopwatch

Gameplay

The children with the balls of yarn are to find the end, grab ahold of it and say their name and one interesting fact about themselves. They should then throw the yarn to someone else on the bus (without letting go of their end) who will do the same thing. Continue this until the worker says time is up or the yarn runs out. Choose two of your workers to be the participants. They are going to race one at a time through the web without breaking any strands. When a strand is broken there turn is over. Who ever gets the farthest is the winner, if they both complete the course then the one with the best time is the winner.

Tips

  • Pre pick your contestents and have them sitting up front so they dont have to work their way to the front before they play.
  • If you can, choose a male and a female worker to be your contestants. Kids love girl against boy challenges.
  • Tell the children to throw it to someone who has not had a turn yet.

Loud and Soft

Supplies

Small prizes to hide

Slips of paper with the memory verse

Rules

Give every child a memory verse paper then choose two children to play your game, one will be your “hider” the other your “seeker”. Send your seeker out of the room with a helper while the hider hides the object somewhere in the room, after your hider is finished call your seeker into the room to find the object. While the seeker is looking for the object the rest of the class should be saying the verse the closer the seeker gets to the object the louder the verse should be said, the farther away your seeker gets the quieter the verses should be said. Once the seeker finds the object it becomes theirs to keep. Choose new players and repeat as time permits.

Tips

If you have time allow your hiders to get a chance to seek so they get a chance to win a prize.

If you are on time constraints you can set a time limit for them to find it in, if they cant find it before time is up the hider reveals the spot and the seeker doesn’t get the prize.

Children love to see their teacher/workers finding the prize.

Storytime (Violent Storytelling)

Supplies

• Chairs

• Story

Setup

Arrange the chairs in a circle (seats facing to the inside) Write or find a story involving all the characters.

Gameplay

All children but one should have a chair. Walk around the circle and give each child a name from one of 4 categories (i.e. dog, cat, pig, goat) once all children have a name begin to read the story.
